Branded URL Shortening: Setup and Overview
What is a Branded URL?
A custom branded short URL is a short link that uses your own company domain. Instead of a generic link from Bitly or TinyURL, your leads see something like go.yourcompany.com/abc123 making it immediately clear the link is coming from you.
Why Use Branded Short URLs?
Long URLs are hard to read and take up valuable character space in SMS messages. Branded short links solve that.
Long link: https://www.calendar.com/booking/schedule?source=sms&campaign=fall2026
Short link: https://go.yourcompany.com/abc123
Other Benefits:
- Easier to read
- Shorter messages = lower SMS usage
- Customers recognize your brand instantly
- Builds trust and looks more professional
- Higher click rates
- Better SMS deliverability
- Supports TCPA compliance
- Branded domains are tied to your business, which signals legitimacy to wireless carriers and reduces the risk of your messages being flagged or blocked.

How It Works
- You provide us with the URL you want to include in your Meera campaigns.
- When a message is sent, our system automatically converts it to a short link on your branded domain.
- Your lead clicks the link and is instantly redirected to the original URL.
How to Set It Up
Step 1: Choose a subdomain and let us know
A subdomain is text added in front of your main website address:
yourcompany.com— your main websitelinks.yourcompany.com— your subdomain
Note: you must choose a subdomain, we are unable to use your main root domain.
Step 2: Confirm access to your DNS settings
DNS is the system that tells the internet where your website lives. It's usually managed by your website host, domain provider or your internal IT team.
We recommend confirming who manages your DNS early sometimes it takes time to track down.
We'll give you a few lines to copy and paste called CNAME records. You don't need to understand how they work, just where to paste them.
If you need help, we're happy to walk you through it via screen share.
Step 3: We activate your custom short URL
Once your DNS settings are updated, our team takes it from there and activates your custom short URL.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this affect my main website?
No, this will not interfere with any of your existing website functions.
Can I change the subdomain later?
Yes, but it requires updating your DNS settings again. We recommend choosing carefully from the start.
Will I need to change anything else on my end?
No, once we've enabled it, the URL shortening happens automatically on our end.
What if I don't have access to my DNS settings?
Reach out to your website host, domain provider, or IT team. We recommend sorting this out early since it can sometimes take a few days to get access.
